The January 2008 issue of universal magazine Travel + Leisure, distributed by the American Express Co. (which banded together with Conservation International) recorded El Nido's sister lodging resorts El Nido Lagen Island and El Nido Miniloc Island in Miniloc and Lagen Islands as "preservation disapproved of spots determined to secure the neighborhood condition". Travel + Leisure's 20 Favorite Green Hotels scored El Nido Resort's insurance of Palawan's mammoth mollusk gardens and the re-presentation of imperiled Philippine cockatoos: ". El Nido Resorts, Philippines: Guest houses on stilts are set over the crystalline sea. The resorts are dynamic in both reef and island protection."
