On 17 May 2002, Executive Order No. 103 separated Region IV into Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and Region IV-B (Mimaropa), putting the region of Palawan into Mimaropa.
On 23 May 2005, Executive Order No. 429 coordinated that Palawan be exchanged from Region IV-B to Region VI.[5] However, Palaweños reprimanded the move, refering to an absence of counsel, with most occupants in Puerto Princesa City and all districts yet one wanting to remain with Region IV-B. Thus, Administrative Order No. 129 was issued on 19 August 2005 that the execution of EO 429 be held in cessation pending endorsement by the President of its usage Plan.[6] The Philippine Commission on Elections revealed the 2010 Philippine general race comes about for Palawan as a piece of the Region IV-B results.[19] As of 30 June 2011, the hold was still in actuality and Palawan remained a piece of Mimaropa.
