Palawan Trough

The Palawan Trough is a zone of more profound water contiguous the north shore of Palawan in the South China Sea.[22] The Palawan trough is thought to be because of downbending of the mainland outside layer because of the heaviness of the ophiolite push sheet.

Facilitate north, around the Malampaya Sound range and up to the El Nido zone, one discovers profound marine chert and limestone.
